EPack™ Compact SCR Power Controllers

The EPack™ Compact SCR power controllers include the following cybersecurity functionality:

New Instruments

From April 2020 all units, come with revision v6.00 or higher and units power up with communications in lockdown mode. After initial setup, providing the Ethernet cable is connected on a RJ45 port the EPack displays a message asking the user to configure the communications password via the front fascia human machine interface (HMI). The communications password can also be set via iTools Engineer Studio (v9.82 and above).

Note - This action only needs to be performed the first-time communication is enabled. If no Ethernet cable connected, the unit starts as standalone unit, with Ethernet communications remaining in lockdown mode.

Upgrading or Downgrading an existing unit

Due to deep changes in the product software and boot change:

Upgrading of versions prior to v6.xx is not possible using the EPack Firmware Management Tool, in the case that this is required, please contact your local Eurotherm office.
Downgrading from v6.xx is not possible.

Cold starting

When the EPack Power Controller is cold started the unit automatically restarts with communications in lockdown mode. The communications password must be configured via the front fascia human machine interface (HMI). The communications password can also be set via iTools Engineer Studio (v9.82 and above).

Cloning

After the clone file is restored, the communications password previously set on the physical unit is retained. All other passcodes are set according clone file information.

Default and Recovery Passwords

There is no way to recover a lost communications password. If lost, save the EPack configuration clone using iTools in Operator mode before cold-starting the unit, set a new communications password and restore the clone file.
