Point Properties

Specify various properties of points on a chart.

Note:  This facility is only available in the Enterprise Edition.

Note:  To manage Point Properties you must have the Manage Point Properties access permission set in your user account (see Users and Roles). If you do not have the required permission, you can still see the Point Properties, but not edit them.

Note:  Currently, the deviation markers are not available for circular charts.

  1. Open a chart.
  2. In the Channel Panel, click on the Cog icon against a channel. The Point Properties dialog is displayed.
  3. Check the Enable limit markers box to specify limit markers to be displayed on a chart. They are useful to indicate when values exceed the specified limits.
    • Enter values for Marker 1, Marker 2, Style, and Thickness.
    • Specify the Limit Marker Color.
      • Check the Use default A/B colors box to use the default colors.

        OR

      • Check the Use custom color box to choose any other color using the color picker.
  4. Check the Change Trend Color (A/B) box to choose a channel trend color using the color picker.
    • Specify a color for A.
    • Specify a color for B.
  5. Check Logarithmic Scale box to convert the Y-axis to a Log 10 scale.
  6. Check the Change Span box to specify the low/high span range to which the selected trace will be scaled. Span low can be higher than span high, in which case the scale is reversed.
    • In the Low field, specify low span value.
    • In the High field, specify high span value.

Note:  If the Logarithmic Scale option is enabled, then the spans must always be above 0.

  7. Check the Change Zone box to specify the area of the chart to be used to display the selected trace. The values must be between 0 - 100, where 0 being the bottom of chart's full extent and 100 for the top. For example, settings of 50 and 100 cause the trace to appear in the top half of the chart.
    • In the Low field, specify low zone value.
    • In the High field, specify high zone value.
  8. Click OK to save the changes.
The Cog icon remains highlighted when the point properties are changed.
  9. Repeat, if required, for other channels.

The settings are also displayed on the Channels list for the selected chart, as well as in the channels list in Custom Groups. To view these:

  1. Go to Groups and Batches.
  2. Click on the Channel icon on any Group, Custom Group or Batch card.

Note:  A/B span, zone and color can be applied for A/B sections of a chart (per segment). However, when you apply point properties, they will override the values for all segments in the chart.
