Comms Link

A Comms Link is a connection that lets the EPM Data Management unit exchange data with other devices such as Programmable Logic Controller (PLCsClosed Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) - A rugged industrial computer used to control machines and processes. Examples: turning heaters on/off, reading sensors, running safety interlocks.) or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADAClosed Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) - A software or system that lets operators monitor and control a whole plant from computer screens. It collects data from a wide variety of equipment such as PACs, PLCs, recorders, I/O, power controllers etc., shows trends and alarms, and lets users send commands.) computers. Typically, process measurements, alarm status, derived values and other live data are exchanged and in some cases configuration data, for example, alarm thresholds may be exchanged.
