Timers
Timer channels play a crucial role in various aspects of commissioning, configuration, operation and monitoring of processes. They are essential for scheduling tasks or events at specific times, setting timeouts for particular actions or conditions and measuring time intervals between events.
Within EPM Data Management up to 128 Timer channels can be configured.
Timer channels can be used to:
-
Provide timing capability
-
Create delays or pauses in program execution
-
Automate routine maintenance tasks
-
Schedule backups
-
Schedule data updates
All of which help ensure processes run smoothly and efficiently.
Timers can be:
-
Singular occurrence - Initiated either manually or via a Job from the operator panel, providing they have the appropriate permissions, see Using the Timers Operator Panel for details.
-
Repeating - Initiated either manually or automatically based on configured Jobs, see Configuring Jobs for details.
The following Timer types are available:
-
Repeated Pulse Timer, see Configuring a Repeated Pulse Timer Channel for details.
-
Stop Watch, see Configuring a Stop Watch Timer Channel for details.
