Configuring Jobs

A Job can be added to any channel that has an Alarm configured. This can be done at the time the Alarm is configured, or retrospectively.

To add a Job to an individual channel:

1. If adding a Job to an existing Alarm, navigate to the channel and select the Alarm to add the Job to.

2. From the channel required, configure the Alarm, see Configuring an Alarm for details if required.

3. Scroll to the bottom of the right-hand pane, if required and select Add Job :

   

4. If you are not already in Configuration lock, the Configuration lock screen displays:

   

   Enter a reason if required and then select Confirm . The system configuration is now locked pending the submission of your update and the Configuration Locked icon displays on the status bar.

   Note - Configuration lock does not affect the operation of the EPM device.

5. The available Job options display, complete and select as required:

   • Descriptor - Defaults to:

     • New Job - 'Job n' where 'n' is the next number in sequence from the previous Job. Enter a unique name for this Job to identify it if required (maximum characters 40).

       Note - This is not case sensitive, for example, 'AbC' is regarded as identical to 'abc '.

     • Select source - Select from the available channel sources.

       Note - Only options available for this channel and Alarm combination display.

6. Select Add Action to select how this Job behaves when it triggers, see Configuring Actions for details.

7. Once complete, select Review pending changes screen to review updates to the configuration, and submit them. See Reviewing and Submitting Changes for details if required.

   Note - Reviewing and submitting can be completed in bulk once you have completed all your additions and/or updates.

The advantage of adding a Job from the Jobs screen, is that it can then be used on multiple channels without you having to duplicate the Job.

To add a Job from the Jobs screen:

1. From the EPM Data User Interface screen, select Options - Functions - Jobs:

   

2. The Jobs screen displays:

   

   Select either:

   • Add Job to add the details from a blank template, or

   • If you have a list of Jobs in the left-hand pane, select Options - Copy to copy an existing Job:

     

3. If you are not already in Configuration lock, the Configuration lock screen displays:

4. The Job details pane displays on the right-hand side of your screen, if you are copying an existing job, review the populated details and update where appropriate, or for a new Job, complete as required:

   

   • Descriptor - Defaults to:

     • New Job - 'Job n' where 'n' is the next number in sequence from the previous Job. Enter a unique name for this Job to identify it if required (maximum characters 40).

     • Copy of existing Job- 'Job descriptor (copy n)' where 'n' is the next number in sequence from the previous copy. Complete as required (maximum characters 40).

       Note - This is not case sensitive, for example, 'AbC' is regarded as identical to 'abc '.

   • Trigger sources - action conditions - You must now define the conditions for the Job:

     • Add - Optional, select to add more than one trigger source to your Job. By default, the next source is numbered sequentially from the previous source, complete as per Source 1 (see below). Repeat this step to add as many trigger sources as required, up to a maximum of 16.

     • Operation to apply - Only displays if there is more that one Source. Displays above Trigger sources - action conditions, select as required:

       Operation	Jobis active when	Jobis not active when
       AND	Source 1 and 2 are both active	Source 1 and/or 2 are not active
       OR	Source 1 and/or 2 are active	Source 1 and Source 2 are both inactive.
       NAND	Source 1 and/or 2 are not active	Source 1 and 2 are both active
       NOR	Neither Source 1 or 2 are not active	Source 1 and/or 2 are both active
       XOR	Either Source 1 or 2 is active	Source 1 and 2 are both active or both not active

     • Source 1 - Specify a source for your Job, see Available Job Sources for options and completion details.

       Note - The options available here depend on the aspects of EPM Data Management configured.
       Tip - When selected, the top level of the Select source list displays a tick .

     • Invert - Off by default, select to mark this as an Absent source .

       For example, where Source 1 is Alarm 1 on Channel 3:

       • With Invert Off , the Job is active whenever the Channel 3, Alarm 1 is active.

       • With Invert On , the Job is active whenever the Channel 3, Alarm 1 is not active.

5. To define how EPM Data Management responds to this Job being triggered:

   • From Actions, select Add Action , or

   • From the Jobs list on the left-hand pane, select the Action attached to the Job being configured.

   Tip - Select Expand to display the Actions and Collapse to hide them.

6. Once complete, select Review pending changes screen to review updates to the configuration, and submit them. See Reviewing and Submitting Changes for details if required.

   Note - Reviewing and submitting can be completed in bulk once you have completed all your additions and/or updates.
