I/O Modules

Note - You can only access this screen if you have the Can access I/O Channels permission. To add, update or remove a module, you must also have the Can configure permission. If you need to access these functions and do not have permission, please contact your system administrator.

An Input or Output (I/O) module connects real-world data, for example, temperature, pressure or flow, to and from industrial process monitoring or control systems. When a module, analog or digital, is added to a slot and dependent on the variant selected, its input or output channels are automatically assigned. Each I/O point is referred to as a channel, and a module contains multiple channels, for example, an AI3 analog input module has three channels for connecting to different sensors.

You can perform the following tasks to manage I/O modules and their configurations:

Identify I/O modules, see Discovering I/O Modules for details.
Add I/O modules, see Adding I/O Modules for details.
Copy a module and its channel configuration to an adjacent empty or dummy slot, see Duplicating I/O Modules for details.
Move an I/O module, see Moving I/O Modules for details.
