Adding I/O Modules

Note - You can only access this function if you have the Can access I/O Channels permission. To add a module, you must also have the Can configure permission. If you need to access these functions and do not have permission, please contact your system administrator.

When you add a module to a slot, its channel assignments are automatically allocated. For example, adding a Three Channel Isolated Universal Analog Input Module (AI3) allocates three channel assignments, each with a default color and configurable settings, see Configuring Chart and Presentation Settings for details.

The channel allocation works as follows:

Adding an AI3 module into slot 2 creates three analog input (AI) channel assignments, 1 for each AI channel on the module named Channel 1, Channel 2 and Channel 3.
Adding an AI2 into slot 5 creates additional AI channel assignments named Channel 4 and Channel 5.
Adding a DI4 into slot 1 creates four further digital inputs (DI) channel assignments as Channel 6, Channel 7, Channel 8 and Channel 9.

Tip - EPM-07 supports nine slots for module configuration, and EPM-15 supports 18 slots.

To add an I/O module:

From the EPM Data User Interface screen, select Options - Device I/O - Hardwired I/O:

The Hardwired I/O screen displays.
In the slot to add, select Plus or Options - Add:
If you are not already in Configuration lock, the Configuration lock screen displays:

Enter a reason if required and then select Confirm . The system configuration is now locked pending the submission of your update and the Configuration Locked icon displays on the status bar.

Note - Configuration lock does not affect the operation of the EPM device.

The Add new module screen displays, select the required module type from the available list and select Add:

The following I/O modules are available within the EPM Data Management:

- RL2 - 2 Channel Relay Output Module, see RL2 Two Channel Relay Output Module Technical Data Sheet for details.
- BMS - Blanking Module (Single Width), see BMS - Blanking Module Single Width Technical Data Sheet for details.
Once complete, select Review pending changes screen to review updates to the configuration, and submit them. See Reviewing and Submitting Changes for details if required.

Note - Reviewing and submitting can be completed in bulk once you have completed all your additions and/or updates.
